Attribute It To The Writer it to the writer to make a uick buck I don t want to undermine the difficulty of toeing the line between writing simply and clearly and being reductive But in How to Write Dazzling Dialogue I believe Bell fell short in and being reductive But in How to Write Dazzling Dialogue I believe Bell fell short in such a balance Comparing How to Write Dazzling Dialogue and How to Make a Living as a Writer to Plot Structure provides a ready example of what I m talking about Plot "Structure is of significant length but written in simple English and by " is of significant length but written in simple English and by means lacking in scope I ave it four stars It was abundant with practical instruction and also presumably well researched as far as I can tell The other two aforementioned books by Bell however are in my opinion found lacking when placed under the same measures of success They feel rushed shallow and at times even disingenuous For these reasons I will continue to keep Plot Structure near my writing desk but steer clear of purchasing any short works by Bell If the two I already own had not been as modestly priced as they were I would feel a bit betrayed and say they were absolutely not worth buying But I believe the money I spent they were on sale when I bought them was at least worth the modest furthering of my knowledge of the craft these books provided The book is short 140 pages long examples are provided everywhere there is nothing much that exaggerated the art of writing dialogue while iving the due respect to those who have established themsleves to be masters of it I would definitely recommend just about anyone in case they want to learn to write better dialogues.
